This is Jesus

When people say, “I think Jesus is a good teacher”, why do Christians feel the need to correct them by responding “Yes BUT…”, as if it’s not okay to see Jesus as a good teacher unless we accept him first as Saviour, God’s Son, etc.  Can’t we allow people to start on that common ground, and build their experience and knowledge of Jesus from there?  When we look at the Bible, we actually find that’s what the first disciples did - they discovered Jesus as Teacher first, and over time came to see him as more - as a prophet, as a Saviour, as God’s Son. 

This is Jesus: as if encountering him for the first time, and discovering the powerful impact he has on our lives as we get to know him.
